WATTO

Growing up in a raucous household with a bunch of siblings won’t magically turn you into a DJ extraordinaire, but it does give you a PhD in reading the room. Meet Matt Watkins, aka WATTO, a beach kid from the outskirts of Melbourne who realised early on that he had a knack for turning up the vibe wherever he went.

From humble beginnings as a small-town spinner to globetrotting DJ/producer, WATTO channels his sunny, fun energy into sets that send everyone home smiling. His music is the secret sauce, though. Picture Trance & Hard Groove with enough melodies to make Mozart jealous and enough energy to power a rocket ship. It’s fast, it’s fun, and it’s fuelled by basslines so big they have their own zip code.

Drawing inspiration from the classics and a club Y2K vibe, WATTO‘s tunes are a masterclass in nostalgia and groove – “groovy nostalgic trance that makes you dance,” as he likes to say.

With songs like “Africa” (#8 on the Beatport Electro House chart), “Zulu” and “Bassline”, as well as collaborations with heavyweights like Will Sparks, WATTO‘s music has amassed over 7 million streams on Spotify under his former artist name, Matt Watkins. Add another 7 million for songs he ghost-produced, and you get the picture.

Backed by the likes of Martin Garrix, Hardwell, Galantis, TJR, Medusa, Dom Dolla, and more, Matt Watkins’ tracks have been signed to labels like Sony Music and Solomun’s label Diynamic Records, and now he’s set sail with Warner Music Central Europe under his new moniker WATTO.

So, if you haven’t caught his wave yet, it’s time to jump on board.
