d2motor is the new DAWless project between two Sydney/Eora-based musicians,Dominic Augustis and Maximilian Schiller.
Their so-called ‘motor’ is a rack of sequencers, drum machines, synths and samplers wired into a single, always-changing instrument. Patterns get built, broken and rearranged live on the night, so the music comes out rolling and raw! Their sound sits comfortably between house, electro and breaks, and never lands the same way twice. Leaning on their early musicianship through bands and performance, d2motor is where those two ears meet, unlocking endless possibilities of electronic music through intuition. They hauled the full rig into the bush for their debut at EUCA 2025, and the engine has been getting rebuilt and upgraded ever since. Their latest release “VirtualExperience” is out now, and headline DAWless shows land at 24 Moons (Melbourne) and The Vanguard (Sydney) this August. A great chance to hear and see where the motor and the project are at, one year in.
